Glass Thickness & Size Considerations: The glass sheets are usually custom-cut to specific sizes and thicknesses based on the order. Common thicknesses range from 4mm to 10mm. Each piece of glass is carefully measured and checked for imperfections before packaging. Protective Layers: Foam or Bubble Wrap: The glass surface is wrapped in thick foam or bubble wrap to provide cushioning and prevent direct impact or scratches. The glossy lacquered surface is particularly sensitive to scuff marks, so extra protection is essential. Corner Protectors: The edges and corners of the glass are protected with corner guards made of foam, plastic, or cardboard. This prevents damage to the edges during transit. Wooden Crates or Strong Cardboard Boxes: Crating (for large orders or fragile shipments): For larger or multiple glass panels, a custom wooden crate is often used to securely hold the glass. The crate is usually lined with additional foam padding to cushion the glass. Sturdy Boxes (for smaller items): For smaller glass panels, durable, double-walled cardboard boxes with internal padding are used. The glass is securely placed inside the box with additional packing materials such as foam inserts or air pillows to ensure no shifting during transport. Protection for Lacquered Surface: To avoid scratching or dulling the glossy surface, a protective plastic film is often applied directly to the lacquered side of the glass. A layer of protective paper or cardboard is sometimes placed between glass sheets (if multiple sheets are shipped together) to prevent direct contact. Labels & Handling Instructions: Fragile Stickers: The package will be clearly labeled with "FRAGILE" and "THIS SIDE UP" stickers to alert handlers about the sensitivity of the contents. Orientation Marks: Clear markings on the package to indicate the proper orientation (which side is up) and handling instructions to avoid mishandling. Sealing & Reinforcement: The packaging is securely sealed with strong tape or metal strapping to ensure that the contents remain intact during transit. If necessary, the entire package is reinforced with stretch wrap or shrink wrap to ensure no shifting inside the box or crate.
